Bontrager steel forks identification?

I just picked up a steel rigid fork, the owner described it as a Bontrager steel forks. What is the give away or tell tales to identify it as such if it arrives? Claimed weight is 880 grams, axle to crown 405mm. Here's a picture if that helps:

Doesn't look very Bontrager to me. Most Bontrager forks were clamp together ones, I suppose the only non-clamps were early road forks that were lugged or brazed. I can't believe that he would have made a set of tigged uni-crowns especially with a mudguard hole (custom mountain forks rarely come with those unless it's for a touring bike). You'll probably find that they come from a Trek stable bike with loads of Bontrager stickers and parts on it.
 
Thanks, I thought as much, it could be quite retro though with the short A-C length, mybe it is from the Trek 9x0 series? the fork legs are bent, not very clear in the picture and the colour is dark green.
 
Dark green sounds like a trek 900 series to me, although I can't for the life of me remember which one. Is it a dull, dark, matt green, if so definitely Trek!
 
the basic Bontrager Privateer came with a rigid Tange fork in 96. One of the two available colors was such a green. Is it a 1" steerer tube? Trek would be 1 1/8" i think.

More clues, thanks Carsten.

Description was steerer outside diameter 25.4mm. But darn, I never know what the 1" is supposed to be, steerer or head tube.

Sheldon Brown to the rescue, I now think this makes it a 1"steerer.Right?

...it'll still be the same trek type fork, mind!
 
bontrager uni-crown forks are brazed, not tigged. brake bosses are different than what you have also

but those are the old fb'd bontrager forks, right? not the ones on the Privateers?!
