We have a boiler and hot water tank in a cupboard in our main bedroom. The boiler has a vent on the external wall to the outside. The cupboard has slatted doors on.

In the mornings when the central heating comes on it can be enough noise to wake us.

Is there any reason why we couldn't replace the slatted doors with solid doors to aid with the above? Or would it all end in carbon monoxide related tears?

Cheers,

Mark

added to that your boiler controls may over heat

we went thru 3 control boards before someone suggested this
been fine since fitting yet more vents

I've boxed my boiler in with a solid door but made sure I put loads of ventilation in. There's regs that cover this so may be worth searching the web.

As for poisoning everyone, I don't think the cupboard will make much difference. 8)

The chances are the boiler is room sealed (most the old ones are dead nowadays)

The slats are there to stop over heating of casing and electrics.

If you have a look through over boiler manual it should explain more.

Might be worth getting a plumber to look at it for you .... get it serviced and ply the man with tea and biscuits it's amazing how much free advice you can get
