Had a lovely treat today, A lone spitfire performing over a sleepy cotswold village. Must of made at least 10 low passes 8)

Hard to believe such beauty was made for war

Nice pic Dave. I would only get the piece of sky where the plane had been the moment before! Sort of an irony you having to do 'deflection shooting' to get a piccy of a Spitfire!
Whenever I take the kids to RAF Cosford I try to get accross to them how much we owe the Spit and Hurricanes and the men who flew in them.

.

All made in scenic sunny Southampton. Designed by RJ Mitchell. What a man, what a town, what the f*ck am I doing living in Wales.
I used to see them regularly over the solent, brings a lump to your throat. The sound is awesome.
There's a gent in the New Forest with a Merlin spitfire engine in a Rolls Royce. I used to presume I was bollocks, but i've seen it

Where I live in suffolk we regularly get the old stuff to and fro-ing from rougham to duxford.

Lanc and a spit the other day, amazing beasts.

I spent my early years living near Cranfield
The sky was always full of gliders, balloons and big airships[i was only 4  ]
I think it must be on a main air route as there was dozens of high altitude vapour trails criss crossing the sky

Designed by RJ Mitchell

I never actually knew to yesterday but his son has lived in Lower Slaughter and dedicated his life to his dad work keeping the memories alive and died this year hence the tribute flight.

a customer of mine was on the phone - ''I'll be taking the ME-109 out over France this weekend, Steve will be in the Spit''

He was ex-RAF and flew WWII aircraft for a living for films and airshows...

There's a Sea Fury kept at Bournemouh Airport...fabulous sound when it comes over - 53 litre 18 cylinder radial engine... :D
