Big Pedal Recommendations Please

I have been using a variety of Wellgo, MKS etc with a width of pedal (excluding the axle but parallel to it) of around 90-95 mm.

So ideally I am looking at around a minimum of say 105mm or wider. I think the dmr Vaults are 115mm!

Iaccept that the shape of the pedal may help a lot i.e. a platform or multiple supports rather than a perimeter cage.

P.S. It's borderline ridiculous how hard it is to find these dimensions on manufacturer's websites. Speedplay Drilliums have a rep. for being quite wide, but their website doesn't say how wide. and many folks from various blogs talk about the width too, but without actually measuring and listing what that width is. Sheesh.
/end rant.

I agree.

Regarding dimensions - I am simply going on the the surface of the pedal, not the distance from the arm.

I am recovering from damaged ligaments in my foot caused by pedals that are too small for my size 12's

Are you absolutely certain this was the reason? Was the damage in your arch or heel? I have some background with foot/lower leg injuries, but need more info. You should be certain before you go buying a bunch of pedals that may or may not work.

My feet are a size 13 and when I ran flats for a short time to try them out I was running Crank Brother 50/50xx's. Pretty awesome, but make sure you locktite in all the screws and replace the studs with grub screws and you will have a big solid platform that's almost impossible to slip off.

Yes thanks - I was riding up a hill and got a stabbing pain in my instep/arch...

Perhaps that was the straw that broke the camel's back, if you will. Tears in the arches/plantar fasciitis/ heel spurs/ bursitis; it's all connected. There are many people with large feet, yet you don't see any marketing really geared at preventing foot injuries due to too small a pedal for big feet.

Guess, what I'm getting at, without being "that guy", is that perhaps your efforts might be better applied to treatment and prevention of the foot injuries. It's been my experience many people fail to properly stretch on a regular basis, and do targeting stretching for the areas that need it most, leaving the door open for these kind of injuries.

I won't say anymore, as I'm sure your physician knows better than I, and he said it was too small a pedal for your large foot, then who am I to argue.

Good luck with your search, and to contribute to the point of your thread, I recommend:
80's MTB- Suntour XC-II pedals
90's MTB- ODYSSEY TRIPLE TRAP pedals
Modern- Syncros Meathook or Wellgo MG1
