Big Pedal Recommendations Please

Looking for advice regarding Big Pedals for big feet please.

I am recovering from damaged ligaments in my foot caused by pedals that are too small for my size 12's

The crucial dimension is width i.e. parallel to the axle which needs to be as large as possible.

Unfortunately I don't want to run to a set of DMR Vaults!

Many thanks

Best flat pedal ever IMHO:

Less than 60 quid from Wiggle.

DMR pedals aren't very big, they are a classic design but modern designs are much larger.
I moved from them to the Superstar pedals for my big bouncy bike and they are miles better. Pretty big too.

If you need a mesurement let me know which bit you need to know about.

Additionally, make sure you've got your feet on them properly. Flat pedals are not designed for "ball of foot over axle" riding. Your foot should be more forward and wrapped around the pedal rather than trying to replicate an SPD position.

Depends what bike they are for.

For an 80's bike i'd go for VP beartraps
For a 90s bike i'd go for Shimano DX or Easton DH.
Modern bike i'd plump for NC-17 Magnesiums. I've had a pair on my Cotic for coming on for 3 years and they have yet to see a spot of oil yet are still butter smooth and free from play. Very light too.

What constitutes too small, that is what pedals were you using. We might be recommending the very pedals you find too small ?

I just measured a few pedals I own for reference. Measurements are from crank arm to outermost edge of pedal.

Shimano DX 112mm
Crank Bros 50/50 107mm
Wellgo B37 111mm
Deore XT M730 98mm

The top three are so close as to not matter much in practice. What does matter is the shape, the DX are nice and concave and the widest, but the 50/50 are more square along the edge. So even though they are a bit narrower, their width is more constant which might make a difference to you.

P.S. It's borderline ridiculous how hard it is to find these dimensions on manufacturer's websites. Speedplay Drilliums have a rep. for being quite wide, but their website doesn't say how wide. and many folks from various blogs talk about the width too, but without actually measuring and listing what that width is. Sheesh.
/end rant.

if modern, try these:
podium by point racing
i believe they r 10x10 cm and something like 11mm thin
