Current project. 1994 Can-o-snails Beast of the East in Viper Red. Picked it up with a Manitou 3 filled with stinky elastomer goo and not much else.

I cleaned up the fork and hung it in the shop, and the headset and stem were bagged for keepers. Then I fitted a King Devolution HS and P2II fork, NOS XT post, Specialized Ti stem, Control Tech flat, Ringle cage, Salsa clamp and a glitter SDG Slim Jim. The rest of the build will be NOS Deore DX, NOS Impel crankset, Velocity Deep V rims and NOS XT hubs. The rear hub has been converted from the original 130mm axle and 6spd uniglide hub-body to 135mm and 9 spd XT hub-body. Dura Ace 9spd shifters and Paul Thumbies will swap the gears and I'm waffling on the levers...I've got black Alteks, black Tech Lites, Silver Tech Lites, and some silver Paul style jobs I've got hanging around. Thoughts?

I'm leaning toward the silver Tektro Paul wannabe levers. They feel pretty good, and the bike will be used and I won't have any reservations about them.

I would prefer a Pepperoni fork, but they don't grow on trees! Rim brake only P2s on the other hand, grow on Bikeman.com! In time the Peps will be there, but for now its P2s. My only reservation about this frame was the Manitou 3 it came with in place of the Peps. I kept all the 1.25 stuff so when I get my hands on a propper Pepperoni I can stick the thing together.

I've noticed that if I drink alot and squint my eyes the P2s sort of look T-Bone-ish... Could be wishful thinking, or maybe I am sloshed. Who can tell?!

I'll post a picture of the bike with wheels and cranks as soon as I can.

moving right along...
