Be HONEST older Retro riders - Who is taking MAHOOSIVE air ?

Re:

Not quite old enough to stop jumping......spent some time riding the alps in summer and i wasnt the youngest there ripping :)

Bouncing should be left for bouncing castles.

At 68, over the past three years, I have torn the ligaments in my left knee, the quad tendon on my right knee, and woken up in an ambulance on the way to A&E with concussion. Twice on an mtb, once on a road bike. I can vouch that you eventually lose the ability to bounce!

I've stopped going to Cwmcarn and Merthyr bike trails and stick to roads and fairly easy XC.

Re:

I can ride a Ht down Snowden without getting big air (and catch up n overtake some of the youngsters on fancy fs stuff) so no I don't get big air , 50 in May and some of us Yorks lot are doing 3 mountains in 3 countries this year (planned by the over 50's), hopefully we won't be getting big air ambulance !

Re:

I haven't got the right tyres for getting air (Air Controls?) so I stay on the ground. Nothing to do with age ....

Re:

The trails I generally ride require 'finesse' rather than extreme measures. Being walker's trails in environmentally sensitive areas, going off piste is ill advised, and very inconsiderate.

The last time I took mahoosive air I was a teenager and probably hurt myself quite badly.

There's a trail centre just outside Sydney I keep meaning to visit. If I do, I won't be tackling the massive jumps etc straight away - experience tells me these are things you have to start small and build up to.

But once you've built up to it, and are comfortable with the height / distance / drop / impending doom, why not?

As Bill Hicks said about kids on LSD jumping out of tall buildings: "If he thought he could fly, why didn’t he take off on the ground first?"
