Indeed. From this we infer that back in the day real men had nothing bigger than 23t on the back and deviating from 42/52 was odd. Time triallers will have run a single front (53 plus) ring and only tourists (pah) a triple. Today in the UK many still sneer at the compact chainset while the enlightened Europeans are much more tolerant all round (as well as far cheaper on eBay as a result).Montello":26xcb32c said:
