Peugeot Altus\Athena etc resprays

I've had an Altus since new, and it's in quite nice condition other than some flecks of rust around the bottom bracket shell and lower sections of the tubes.

I've seen a few other Peugeot models from this era (around 1990) which appear to have gone the same way. I'd be quite tempted to buy one with the 653 or 753 tubing, but perhaps a scabby finish would eventually get on my nerves!

The paint schemes look quite complicated to me, with two main colours, and plenty of graphics. Is anyone able to exactly reproduce the original paintwork including logos and transfers of these models? If so, I imagine it would be expensive - any idea on the likely cost?

I think, from memory most of the complex graphics are only decals, easily available on the bay. Relatively easy to paint, the decals need proper positioning tho

I would be cautious buying a scabby 753 variant - higher risk of the tubes being perforated.

Someone like Mercian or Argos will be able to do a knockout job but it will cost. A 2 colour fade job plus decals you supply fixed....likely to be north of £250-300...possibly more. You will also need to factor in courier costs on top.

I would be tempted to DIY but we are losing the 'DIY in the garden aerosol paint window' now its September in the UK. Ideally you need temp to be 20C or above unless you have a shed or other indoor space to spray in. You are looking at about £70-100 in materials for a 2K finish and maybe 10-15 hours prep and spray time (80% of that time is prep). Despite all that - which sounds daunting if you've never done it before - its totally doable as long as you take your time and don't cut corners.
