Bad ebay experience

Following on from a few of the threads in the main forum about ebaying from the US here is my latest slightly unhappy experience.

Won an auction for some white cable from the US. Seller specified no international postage. No problem, will get it shipped to a friend in the US. Duly win the auction, they send an invoice for international postage. Happy days think I, so I pay and await the packages arrival.

2 weeks later with no contact they refund the money. Drop them a note querying what's going on and suggesting they not relist the item. This is what I get in response.

Actually, the payment has already been sent back to you via Paypal, secondly take up whatever you need to take up with ebay because you already violated their user agreement and the only reason you are still sending me anything email related is because I did not reoport your sorry ass to them. It is posted all over our site .. NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING. Take your little minde threats and hit the road.

Nice. After 4 years this is the first really sour ebay experience I've had.

Sounds particularly nasty. I've had relatively few incidents in seven years trading - most I've managed to rescue before they turn really sour, others I've just taken a small hit on. However, I've not had a good couple of weeks - I've made two relatively major purchases, one turned up minus a few items mentioned in the description and lower specced (though he's subsequently agreed to sort it out) and another was completely off what was described, though I suspect the seller was duped originally and was innocent in passing on what he thought was the genuine article - again he's kindly agreed to a refund.

I guess at least I've not monetarily lost out, as you say it's just went sour quickly. Hope both your situations get sorted.

often the case these bad experiences, I always try to go by the ratings of sellers and buyers all comments

Sounds a right sh*t.
Perhaps send a message to the seller informing them that you have a USA address to send to then he will know the situation. (For future buys that is)

When dealing with a foreign seller who mentions "Germany only", "US only" or in my case even "UK only", I usually contact them to ask if they're willing to send internationally.
If they refuse, I'll look for someone in their country to receive it and send it to me.

Most are willing to post internationally if you ask kindly and mention that P&P is not an issue.
Only on 2 occasions did I need help from another member, and 2 other sellers refused flat out, stating that they wanted "their" bikes to stay in the country.

Oh, and then there was the one that insisted on personal pick-up. Made me Hire a car and chauffeur (I don't drive) and drive all the way to Germany, but that was a no-brainer considering the price. I probably could have hired a private jet and still got it on the cheap.
