bad crashes?

rocky mountain

Devout Dirtbag
having stacked the rocky at 20 mph ish in pouring rain after a 10 mile ride home from work on thursday, i was wondering what crashes anyone has had and the results?

just got bruised legs and a shaken up body, amazingly and thats all, yet to look at the bike, though i managed to ride it home.

I bounced on my head on the devil downhills at chedder gorge many many years ago, It hurt very much and was the end of my downhill biking as a day after had to turn up for my first day of work as a fish monger with my wrist and arms all wrapped up!! ha.ha

I havent crashed recently, but BITD various tumbles here and there.

Worst being a doubles jump gone wrong, which ended with a broken collar bone and shoulder.

Also, whilst sprinting for 3rd place in an MTB race the other guy shoved his front wheel in my cassette and I went over the bars. To add insult to injury he actually rode OVER me! Had the tyre marks on my chest and legs to prove it! Didnt finish the race, ended up in A&E for a check up with severe bruising :(

Pickle.. Thats terrible but you have made it sound pretty comical !! :P

I laughed about it afterwards! Was also funny watching my Mum, Dad and friends scream at the guy.....first time I've ever heard my Mum swear

It was my first race on the RTS, and I was left with a small gouge out of the top tube from my bar ends as they went over; a perminant reminder

Crashed more this year than ever before.

Poleaxed a tree on Wednesday at Glentress, a rather spectacular take off from a jump where the back wheel started rising , over the bars in mid air and brought to a halt by said tree. Smack face of tree, ribs hit it squarely and couldn't breathe and the tree version of road rash on the top of my thighs. Ribs are still quite sore.

Fell of the see-saw still clipped in too, more embarrassing than anything else.

too many chainring/pedals etc gouges in legs...

Oh yea, got 5 chainring scars in my right calf from an SPuD moment last year

In front of a load of people, so I got up, laughed and rode off despite PAIN and blood running down my leg!

Had a fairly big one BITD, early 90's i think, bike was a grey 852
Proflex.

Daft one, flying down a single track about 30 mph, drifted off
onto grass and front wheel went into a rain ditch.

Me = broken colarbone, big lump on head (even with good helmet on  )

Bike = trashed rear wheel, snapped brake lever, trashed thumb-
shifter, bent bars, bent saddle rails.

My mates had to pull the bike out of the undergrowth

Kind of put me off doing anything mad since though.
