Back to the 80's i shall go.

So back to the Muddy Fox and i was looking for brake pads/straddles etc for the U-brake this shows you how easily i get distracted lol
So remember when i was saying it would be great if someone could do replacement plastic covers for them so basically that the brake will work.
This shows you the difference between them from 88 to 89 onwards till they discontinued the u brake.
First one is for the fugley plastic covered 88 Exage Mountain, second for the 88 Deore and Deore XT and thirdly for 89 Models none are compatible eg an 89 one won't fit on a 88 and vice versa and the 88 Exage Mountain won't fit on anything other than that.

For the U-Brake lovers here's pretty much the full set. 88 Exage Mountain M451, 88 Deore MT61, 88 Deore XT M731, 88/89 Exage Mountain M452, 89 onwards Exage M453, 89 onwards Deore SLR MT63 in silver or Black and 89 onwards Deore XT SLR M733

That's looks better, the purple violet stands out more which has given me an idea.
I wonder if i got the RAL code for that and then gave it to a painters they could do a mix of that and a light silver to replicate the colour of the 88 Pine Mountain 🤔

I always love the little paw prints on the Muddy Foxes of this era, so cool.
And some good old MBUK stickers which was mandatory back then to stick on your bike 😀

Now for the next bit, some polishing i think the paint should come up quite good with a few coats.
A Muddy
How beautiful

I'm thinking about using that product. I wasn't familiar with it, and I have a Diamondback that I don't want to refinish. I'd rather restore the original color.

Nice shiny front mech and Shimano shifters fitted they've got the 7th click so should be spot on and the cantilevers are fettled they weren't returning quickly so a quick swap of the springs and plastic covers and all is good. And somewhere in the cave there's some Shimano Deore four finger levers lurking, find those and we've got brakes 😊

Well that was unusually quick to find them they were in a bag with two sets of nos Exage Trail brake levers and some Exage Mountain shifters, no idea when i bought them though 😂 bizarrely they don't have the barrel adjusters 🤷‍♂️
If anyone wants to buy them give me a shout because i can't see me ever using them.

I'm in two minds whether to paint the levers on the Deore brake levers 🤔

Some more digging about has unearthed this Muddy Fox saddle and i think i'll stick with the brake levers being silver it fits in with the other parts, just the wheels to clean up now.

Some more digging and i found my missing nos Deore XT U brake pads and look at these bad boy pedals, it's not a proper 80's bike unless you have some tear your shins apart bear trap pedals 😁
