Back problems

Haven't affected the (infrequent) riding but has been giving me gip since mid-Feb . .

GP in mid-March prescribed Ibuprofen gel since it's quite obviously ( ) muscular.. went back today and a different quack sent me for x-ray..
Last x-rays took 3 weeks to get from hospital to GP surgery . . . :?

I'm surprised they gave you Ibuprofen gel - it doesn't really work to my (limited) knowledge (I do work in a GP surgery on the admin side and pick up on these things) - you'd be better with Ibuprofen caps/tablets I would have thought.

That gel is flipping dreadful. . . it's lower back too (top of my sacrum and down into my coccyx) - now giving me grief from the harvest sites for the bone grafts I had a few years back. .

Wore a t-shirt in bed to stop the gloop making the bed linen minging..

I already take Paracetamol, Tramadol and Diclofenac so more pills were out of the question ;)

how's tyour mattress?

For years may back hurt (still does) changed riding position, stem etc etc then slept in a very soft bed bad back went :D now back in our own bed. Bad back back :( So it was the hard mattress :x
So for 6 months have to put up with it and hope when we move in 6 months time the next place has a soft mattress.

Deep heat cream helps

This last week I been sleeping on the futon in my flat.. for the 2 years previous to that I've been on the sofa in the house..
Back's only been fubar since mid Feb so I don't think it's mattress (or alternative) related. . .

understood but if you are not getting the support you need then it wont help the problem, even if it is not the cause.

The futon is one of the most comfy things I've had under me in many a year (matress-wise). . shame that I can't lay on my back or front any more, I can feel that it'd be even better then. . .

I had back trouble for years - it went away when I bought a good memory foam bed, only occasionally get pain now.

Down side is they do get a bit hot though, we never use more than a 5 tog quilt.

Had 2 back op's last year due to a disc problem ... most are caused by discs

Very lucky as company has us on private health scheme so week one doc's for referral, 2 days later seen consulate next day MRA next week on the table !!!

NHS method to dick about for 6 months (the words of the Doc) and hope you feel better or get bored
