This has been a bit of a slow burner due to splitting my time between here and the US but always good to return with fresh enthusiasm when we get back this side of the pond.
Picked up the frame earlier this year at a great price (cheers @Bsmith#lts#
) as a welcome replacement for the 'far too long for me' Jack Flash.
Perfect . . .
Cleaned up really nicely
so set about making a set of downtube decals with the aid of some sticky backed plastic and a steady hand
Application was a nightmare but I think I managed to pull it off.
Added a few stars and stripes to appease the USophile in me . . .
and managed to pick up a bargain pair of Marzocchi MXC Air forks, decal-less and just advertised as 'Bombers' for spares. Replaced the decals and added brake posts as initially I planned on using the cheapo wheelset from my Hardrock Comp project with v brakes.
Built it up singlespeed and absolutely love it - so freakin' quiet.
Love the look of the deep section rims so they'll be staying but I'll replace the nasty steel hubs with a nice singlespeed rear and (eventually) a Hope front with C2 or Mini brake.
It's a keeper
