Really? Perhaps where you are, but hereabouts good quality 26" rim-brake wheels are like hens' teeth -- and if a good pair comes up, they command top dollar.Wheels, old wheels, are sooooo damnnnnnn cheappppp, just buy some nice ones!
Yup, the corrosion is pretty advanced. I'm going to take them apart and hang onto the spokes, rims and skewers. (Then probably chuck 'em out in a few years' time)The crosslinks are a great looking pair of wheels with their square profiles and anodised finish.
They looked so futuristic at the time.
But this pair has almost the worst corrosion I've ever seen
it might be just totally on the surface, lifting the finish, but that seems unlikely - and they weren't made with excess material to sacrifice to oxidation.
It's easy to imagine material changes where the spoke head is fitted into the hub
Or where the eyelet is mounted in the rim
I'll email mavic and see what they say!
