Are my Mavic Crosslinks f****ed?

You might be able to spruce them up as mentioned, but you might also find that the spokes/nipples/rim are corroded together.

I learned the hard way trying to find a decent pair of Mavic Crossmax 😩

The crosslinks are a great looking pair of wheels with their square profiles and anodised finish.
They looked so futuristic at the time.
But this pair has almost the worst corrosion I've ever seen😪

it might be just totally on the surface, lifting the finish, but that seems unlikely - and they weren't made with excess material to sacrifice to oxidation.

It's easy to imagine material changes where the spoke head is fitted into the hub😬
Or where the eyelet is mounted in the rim 😬

I'll email mavic and see what they say!

Yup, the corrosion is pretty advanced. I'm going to take them apart and hang onto the spokes, rims and skewers. (Then probably chuck 'em out in a few years' time)
