Anyone want a Claude Butler for a Colnago price ?

Wow...I really hope this sort of thing signals we have reached peak 'retro road bike hype'. Can't blame the man for trying I suppose. 'Great patina', indeed. I guess that adds an extra £949 to the price.

...and rusty low end parts at that. If I were to be charitable, I would say the words 'hand built' have made the seller think it's something special. If they actually knew anything about bikes, I don't think they would be asking such a crazy price. Some people just think old road bike + 531 + 'hand built' = big bucks, I suspect...

This one has been on there a long long time.... and bound to stay that way as well.

Its a mid-late 70's Cresta, very very bottom of the Holdsworth range... I'm a Claud nut... if you gave me a Cresta for free, I'd grudgingly accept, strip the parts and throw the frame away... :xmas-cool:

***EDIT*** I'd happily pay £20 for the Claud Butler "Lux" chrome pannier rack though... :xmas-wink:
