Hi guys,

I asked this question on bike radar
And they redirected me here as you guys clearly know your stuff.

I have a 1985 puch alpine that I am trying to restore its former self and I believe its supposed to look like this one:

http://www.tweekscycles.com/blog/cycle/ ... n-project/

I know it's not a great bike but I have grown fond of it and I am building my self a frankenstiens monster bike from original parts and parts off of my older modern bike.

unfortunately the hooligan who owned it before me sprayed the whole thing a ghastly colour so I had to completely strip the paint and get it resprayed. At first I didn't want decals but have changed my mind but have no idea on measurements to give to the graphics designer.

If any of you could help with the font sizes of this bike or of a simular modle that would be amazing!

Thanks!

Chris

I was a Puch dealer in the early 80's & probably sold a dozen or so Alpine's. IIRC most were silver with blue & green flashes, the decal's were block capitals on the downtube in black edged with blue/green, the head badge was a decal repeated on the seat tube, with alpine on the front part of the top tube, are the decals not available from Chris Lloyd up in the Leeds area ?

Re:

My first bike was a Puch Alpine! An earlier one which I must have got around 1975 in yellow. 5 speed, Simplex gears, always wanted 10 speed :)

That bike went thousands of miles on Sunday club runs, fishing trips and Youth Hostel tours. I still had the frame until about 10 years ago but somewhere along the line its gone missing :(

Pretty basic and heavy with an arse killing, rock hard plastic saddle, but gave me a first taste of freedom!!

Re:

You could try contacting some of the people on eBay that make the puch decals, to see if they could make the right ones for you, worth a try :D

Re:

Cheers for the response guys!

Do you know how i could find out if Chris Lloyd has them?

thats a real shame that it went missing! ive tried a few of the ebay guys and they mostly want measurements. i have heard alot of negative things about puch bikes but ive had this one for about 4 years as a back up bike and yes its quite heavy but its never let me down, i hope to enjoy some of the freedom you speak of when ive got it back to its best. i plan on buying a slightly more forgiving saddle as the one i have, even though it sounds like its slightly better quality than yours, its still pretty uncomfortable.
