on tuesday when boarding the plane to work I noticed a black strand like floater in my eye. I now have a few more black specks.

Quite worrying especially when stuck in a foreign country.

I have an appointment in an hour with a specialist. Fingers crossed Im not going blind :(

That's not to say you shouldn't get it checked out, but I have these 'floaters' in one eye - like strands or blobs which move about, you notice them especially against a light background (looking up at the sky etc). Apparently according to my optician it's quite normal - they are a few cells that have detached from the inside of your eyeball. They'll be there for life, but these days I barely notice them even though they are always there, you just kind of ignore them :D

cheers guys, I have come back happy but cannot see a thing now! lots of drops in my eyes and a lengthy examintantion.

what worried me was they were black, not transparent / translucent and the suddenly appeared. With my history of eye infections, wearing contact lenses for too long and serve short sightedness I was quite worried.

He could see the debris, but no damage to my retina or optic nerve. Explained that it was quite normal espcially in people who are as myopic as me.

So although I have black dots and strands dancing around in my eye I can now relax :D

I've been wearing glasses for 57 years and get all sorts of floaters and stuff. Just learned to accept that my eyes are crap and that it's a small price to pay for being such a hansum dawg!!

There are people out that with clear vision

I think it's funny there is so much HD around now but my eyes can't see in HD
