Any tips on repairing vintage brakes?

Thanks for that, Jesper! I had never heard of Subito before, but found three potential purchases there in 5 minutes. My Italian is not too bad. If my visit to a vintage bike market next weekend is unsuccesful I will certainly order something from Italy

Thanks to everyone who replied. I've learned a lot about brakes, and particularly about the brands Balilla and Claud Butler. As shown in the photos, I managed to get a pair of Balilla brakes for ten euros at the Retroronde. The spring fitted perfectly into my C.B. branden calliper. Not really surprising since the brakes are almost identical! I had naïvly thought that my brakes were manufactured by Claud Butler, whereas they just stamped "C.B.LONDON" on them! Still, very glad to have them working again. 20250614_202902.webp 20250614_200809.webp

Pleased to see your sorted . I was away when you originally posted that you were looking for some springs .
To cut a long story short ,have found 2 in the darkest recess's of my shed whilst rummaging for something else. So if anyone needs a spare spring let me know.
