Hi there,

Got a mixer tap in the kitchen that has started getting loose where attaches to the sink. Fitted about a year ago, looks like a 10mm nut.

The brass one pictured, in between the flexible hoses. Access to it is so restricted, that I can't get a spanner to it owing to the proximity to the hoses. A socket would be ideal, but as there is around 27mm of thread, my socket isn't. er, socketed enough ! :?
Is there a special long reach one that's used, or a right angle spanner with a very thin end?

Thanks in advance for any useful help

Mike

Re:

Not possible.

There is a horseshoe shaped plate that the problem nut holds on, a spreader plate type thingy if you get my drift. You can see one end, to the left of the left hose.
There's no way the flexible hoses would be able to be attached after that was fixed, as the nut holding that on, is very close too.

If that makes sense.

Re:

The one we used would have been a lot more magical had he cut an inch off the thread! I could have tightened it myself then

Mysterious how it was done

Re:

Now that makes sense!

Just had to google those! I had pictures of those dog bone cycle spanners in my head!

Tit!

Thanks

is there a slot in the end of the threaded stud for a screwdriver? If you undo that, then cut it down, then you'll be able to use a socket.

(The taps are normally supplied with a box spanner).

Re:

Had the same problem on a bathroom sink , got a 10mm open ended spanner ( a cheap one ) and bent it through 90 degrees , then slowly slowly , job done :)
