Any plumbers amongst us?

is there a slot in the end of the threaded stud for a screwdriver? If you undo that, then cut it down, then you'll be able to use a socket.

(The taps are normally supplied with a box spanner).

Yes it is slotted. So that will unscrew from the tap body?

Had the same problem on a bathroom sink , got a 10mm open ended spanner ( a cheap one ) and bent it through 90 degrees , then slowly slowly , job done :)

I tried an open ended spanner. Not enough clearance between the nut and the end of the flexi hose. Box spanner sounds the best plan I think.

There is a gasket, so you don't need to torque it up much, just make sure it is tight enough to stop it wiggling around. (Ahem..)

Thanks

Yes, it's only to stop it moving around when Mrs Muz swings the top of the mixer around. It's just enough to be annoying. Well, for her anyway !

Re:

TBH, there's so little room for manoevre once I get it on, it's not worth the bother .

I'll get hold of a box spanner, at least there will be more space at the lower end of it.

Re:

Probably get a ring spanner in there, this sort of thing:

A sort of crowsfoot open ring spanner. Something like a distributor spanner, The spanners are maybe a foot long, vertically.
Something similar would do, things like that are quite easy to make, if you have a welder and a hacksaw;-)
I would be surprsed if someone didn't make something similar to a distributor spanner for the purpose,
you just have to find them.
Here's a distributor spanner:

Edit:
I just put tap spanner into google and guess what you get pics of?
