I have just purchased a retro racing bike. It seems to be in pretty good condition and looks like a good first time project.
My knowledge of bikes is not at all vast and all self taught. I am very happy with my purchase as it cost me peanuts, but would be interested to find out a bit more about its history.
On first glance, it would appear to be Campagnolo, but there is a mix of parts on the bike at present so I am not 100%. It has a Campagnolo headset and brake calipers, but Shimano brake levers and front mech. I cannot find any markings on the chainset. It appears to be a 6 speed screw-on cassette with a cheap looking 'Saute' rear derailleur. The down tube levers are 'Simplex'.
The frame itself appears well made and in good condition, there is no rust anywhere, but it needs a good clean. I cannot find any identifying markings other than the number '011047' under the bottom bracket.
The wheels appear true and are fitted with 700 x 25 Michelin Select tyres. I don't know what the rims are as the stickers have been removed, but it has a nice looking set of Pelissier hubs which look possibly high end and seem to spin forever.
I would really appreciate any help with this.
