any childs seat recommendations?

Will he be big enough for anything other than a trailer at 7 months? Seem to recall we had my lad in a trailer at 6 mo (and tbh he was a bit small) then in a rear mounted seat at around 1.
Went for the hamax siesta, reclines so when he falls asleep you don't get the neck lol.

Thanks John, the Siesta looks ideal when he's a bit bigger.
Trailer is no use round here as all the cycle paths have helpful skinny gates every half mile or so :x
Looking at our Dutch cousins, they seem to get their snot-gobblers in forward seats as soon as they can hold their heads well!
Apparantly seven months is a late starter there!
I've seen the Wee-ride Kangaroo which looks ideal for him.

Bobike is the brand I've always been most impressed with through my 15 years in the bike trade in Denmark.....
And the one we chose when our kids were small enough to need one.

Forward mounting seats are a bad idea IMHO. In the case of collision there's nowhere for the rider to go and the steering goes all to pot.
And the one we chose when our kids were small enough to need one.

If the seat's any good, it'd take most of the blows anyway. Rear seat would be larger too and therefore offer more protection. Most impacts are also in the front.
It's your call - but safety pamphlets given to all new parents here in Denmark (where they are pretty hysterical about such matters) - back up my point. Only reason to have one at the front is to have increased interactivity with the child.

In the end we opted for the Deluxe kanga-roo from Wee-ride.
Not cheap at £100 but they re-sell well on ebay.

Front facing center mounted, mounts onto a bar which bridges headset to seatpost.
Tried it for the first time this morning round the park and it was brilliant.
I was happier as I could see him and make sure he was secure.
The seat and harness is fantastic, and he was happy.
I still feel safer with a front mount for now.
Let's face it, if a car hit me, it's most likely to be from rear or side in my opinion. I can get my arms round him and fall with him tucked up in me.
As he gets older and stronger I'm sure we'll switch to a good rear seat.
All riding until he is in a rear seat will be off road anyway.

We've got a Hamax Siesta and a Weeride (and a LOCT, and a Burley trailer...) on the go. They both have their pros and cons, but personally I prefer the forward seats - better for talking to nippers, they can see where they're going, you've still got space for a rack. Doesn't work if you're short, though, you end up with a toddler wedged under your chin. Still use the Hamax a lot with youngest, saves swapping seats about between bikes. Mrs D finds it a bit tippy, though, now that the occupant is 2 -- it's a lot of weight high up.
Anyway, while we're doing family cycling, here's our latest toy:
