Hi Guys

Been a dooofus, the Alpinestars Al mega DX I've been on about on here is causing me some woes...Sold the F&F to a guy on here who got it today but found an arsing crack on the headtube! Totally my oversight I can see it now on the pics I took before I sent it! Sooooo, can it be repaired? or should I just hang it in my shed as a "bike that could have been"?

a gutted Wook...

bummer :(

personally i am not a fan of repairing aluminium headtubes. wall art is my opinion, once cracked i tend to leave well alone unless it's steel, but i am sure some one will come along and explain that their armchair engineering degree means they know better.

shame though.

I figured as much johnny. Unsure of the steerer length as awaiting the return of the frame and forks but it was a 17.5" frame with original stem/headset...

they might be too short for mine then, i'd be interested in having them though if they would fit.

Ok mate I'll let you know when I get it all back! Also will have Astar seatpost, seatpostclamp/hanger and handlebar stem....not to mention a DX front mech

...right, if I can just get this little bit next to the hole I drilled at the bottom of the crack...

...damn, welded it to the table now!

Seriously; I think you can safely say that is an ex A'stars frame...

...I wouldn't even want to use that after welding collars top and bottom; which is possible as I've seen it on Manitou FS frames more than once.
