Alpinestars Alpine LX 1990

Looks good. Great thing about a relatively low end groupset is that getting NOS or new equivalent parts is cheap and easy. I'm thinking chains and cassettes for a start :) Rusted bolts are easy to clean up or replace too. It'll clean up beautifully 8)

I think it'll clean up nicely. I've got a chain and cassette I can use for it already. Need to order a brake/gears wiring kit and then degrease/clean/polish/touch up.

I had a brief ride down my street on it, feels compact (I'd just been out on my new 29er) and solid and could be a lot of fun. I've ordered some Michelin Country Rock tyres which will help it roll and steer a bit better and suit the cyclocross vibe I'm after if I do decide to use drops.

Could be put into rotation as a commuter...

Re:

Minor update: I've stripped it down and cleaned it and I'm gonna use the original components. Degreased and cleaned the mechs. Not too bad condition so I'll persevere for now and not mess up the MBK. I'll renew all of the bolts later in the process If it runs nicely and fits.

It's wearing some lovely Michelin Country Roads and I've just re-newed the cabling so need to set up the mechs again I think and I've put a new chain on it.

Will try and get it sorted by next week with some pics.
