How is the front mech secured? Looks like the front mech tab is missing to me and its been replaced by an e-type BB mounted one, but you need more than just a tight bottom bracket to keep those in place.

there is a bracket around the seat-tube above the BB shell. Just visible in one picture.

The problem with those clamps kev is that they are made for straight seat tubes, this 92 frame has a curved seatpost so the clamp sits too far forward. Hence the front mech never sits right, I had the same issue with my retro-mod cro-mega XT.
 
my blue al-mega runs a standard mech
granted it needed a bit of faff to make it work ,but it does work
