Finally, at long last the steed if just about finished all bar (no pun intended) the arrival of the carbon bar ends tomorrow.

It's ment to be an all purpose compromise commuter/off road/training bike.

Started life like this, a second hand bargain I picked up for a few quid.....

It was chemi-dipped to strip the paint, dye penetrant crack detected, then powder coated, nice & thick.

After 1 set of Rockshock Dukes, 1 pair of Pace RC36 Stealths, I decide on rigid forks as I preferred more direct steering and the bike just handles so well on rigid forks. weighs in at a touch over 20lbs.

Looking great!

Is that a light on your fork leg? I have vague memories of that not being legal or something ridiculous ...

No, it's the sensor for the cycle computer, a Knog Nerd. With hindsight I'd have bought a black one.

Very smart! I did a similar thing to a 1999 Alu Cindercone (the one year without the disc tab on the rear).

I had always been very anti-aluminium, but I have to say it's a great riding bike with a rigidfork (I have a cheapy P2).

And as you say, you can get a stupidly light bike for not much money - although mine has no carbon trickery..
