no argument from me, but I live in Cheshire, sooooooI have had a few 2 wheel recumbents too including a king cycle, a flevobike, and a lwb number whose builder escapes me.
2 wheelers are no good with steeper than 1:10 local uphill gradients - you need more speed to maintain comfortable balance than an upright bike, which can be a struggle if you can't stand on the pedals.
The flevo was like wrestling with a drunken lunatic - fascinating but dangerous.
That difficult point where steering flips to counter-steering is almost undetectable, with life-threatening consequences

Aero nonsense at the National Cycle Museum in Llandrindod Wells![]()
now you see, I read that as rolling top speed, not rolling road. Like towed to speed then shielded, not sat on a trainer. It looks like its going 200mph even while it's sitting still!
Oh, it actually is going 200 while sitting still!
The Rolling Road helps eliminate crosswind, i imagine![]()
Bet that’s fun in crosswinds.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all. The Diamondback Andean. Possibly the first time this has ever graced Retrobike.
Did anyone discuss how much additional benefit there is to aero in a 20mph head wind?
