Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

I have had a few 2 wheel recumbents too including a king cycle, a flevobike, and a lwb number whose builder escapes me.
2 wheelers are no good with steeper than 1:10 local uphill gradients - you need more speed to maintain comfortable balance than an upright bike, which can be a struggle if you can't stand on the pedals.

The flevo was like play-wrestling with a drunken lunatic - fascinating but dangerous.

That difficult point where steering flips to counter-steering is almost undetectable, with life-threatening consequences.

The, er, steering pivot is there under your perineum.

no argument from me, but I live in Cheshire, soooooo :)

you can see in the video that it's a bit twitchy at times, mainly down to the steering arrangement. I want to go over to above seat steering at some point, to see if a tiller helps with it. I found that on steeper climbs you could push back against the seat to get you up them, but it's not as easy as on a normal bike.

they don't fit in a bike rack very well :)

It looks like its going 200mph even while it's sitting still!
Oh, it actually is going 200 while sitting still!🤔

The Rolling Road helps eliminate crosswind, i imagine🤣
now you see, I read that as rolling top speed, not rolling road. Like towed to speed then shielded, not sat on a trainer.

Motor Paced is different.
Current record iirc

This bike doesn't need to be very aero either,
Screenshot_20250717-113056_Firefox.webp but the rider needs full on mc-racing crash protection!

This is probably why he's slower than...

The museum piece:

You can ride this in lycra, but if you did fall off, you'd want to keep all parts of your anatomy away from the spinning rollers etc😉

Tbh the motor Paced ride could have gone faster with disc wheels, but the roller dude could've gone faster with a body position designed for power output rather than frontal surface area.

Give us these guys, the kit, an Allen key and a roll of gaffer tape, and we could beat both records.
