Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

I have a friend who broke the national 10 mile road bike TT record that had stood for 35 years. (18:41 for the record)
Having seen the prep that went into it, aero and position were at least as important as his fitness in the outcome. :)

At 30mph you're plucking your eyebrows and shaving your wossnames.

The time triallists, locked in position and working a hard as they can for so many minutes on a flat road, are the ones who really gain from reducing drag - and they will have tuned their body position and trained their muscles to work with it.

Do tt bikes have a lower bb given they never do corners?
Shorter cranks could facilitate this too!

You wouldn't want to ride one of those bikes for pleasure though.
The great thing about 'aero' is it gives all the anoraks a chance to communicate with other anoraks about aero things - giving solance that they are not the only crushingly dull people alive.
Think of the Spreadsheets!
And the fully internal hoses saves 4 seconds in the hour, but takes an hour to replace🤣

Are we really going to point holes in a persons love of bikes, even if it's different to ours?

Be nice, the pair of ya, or I'll make you break a Brooks in without a shammy. :P

TT riders don't love their bikes @novocaine , you know this.

They see them as an item for personal torture.

A personal "rack" to induce pain and suffering.

Tight fitting clothing, often shiny and black, dripping sweat and body fluids in their wake...

Oh, hold on...🤔

I'm not seeing your argument here. :)

even a sub TT rider has to get pleasure out of the pain, otherwise they just wouldn't do it.

To tell you the truth, after 3 decades of dealing with all sorts of cyclists, most tt riders move swiftly on when a new benefit is seen in a new frame design or component.

The old model is now almost worthless.

This effect is right across the cycle market, but the opposite is the steel tourer, who loves their bike and replaces it rarely, often because it's actually broken.
Plenty in between too obvs.

This relates to the original post.

The wind resistance clearly isn't a lie, but is irrelevant to the bulk of the consumers its targeted at, and so there's a commercial dishonesty at work that the OP finds distasteful - and they are not alone.

@benjabbi gets the vibe too.

Shall we introduce the triathlete while we're about it😉
