This build thread has seen the rise and fall of governments, Monarchs, wars, genocides, pandemics, Presidents, and technology - with the current 2025 world being so so different from the 2013 world when this build thread was eagerly started

This is why I haven't posted many build threads because people would lose the will to live because everything just takes so long due to how crazy busy things always are. Just checked one of them dated August 2023 and I've done nothing with it apart from take photos.

Thank you, that makes me feel better - and justified in not having started threads for bikes I have had longer than this one!

Thread 'Rocky Mountain - Altitude 1993 - the start'

Well I made progress on this today, I got the syncros crank-o-matics out and intact.

So here it starts.

Frame is presumed a Rocky Mountain 1993 Altitude, all the hallmarks but with some modifications.

There has been eyelets for rack mounts added on the rear dropout, and the seat stays. I assume these to be done by some famous British builder when the fork legs, that came with it, were created for the RS MAG steerer. (name escapes me but i'll check) EDIT: Dave Yates

Anyway, also the rear brake cable stop in front of the seat tube has been replaced, easy to tell as it is laid in...

Well, now I've ruined the dormancy of that thread you'll have to start doing something with it.

I think the point I'm at with the Aende is need to finish servicing the rear hub, which you lent me some tools to do. I really should finish that and return the tools to you!

Hehe! Just trying to egg him on. I’ve failed in the past.. let’s see if @FluffyChicken or @kingoffootball get the record. @raidan73 there should be a badge for longest running build thread or one which is 10 years or mre

Lack-of-progress update:

I did try to drift the spindle out of the rear hub to replace the bearings, but didn't get any significant movement. I'd like to be certain that it definitely just wants more force applied to avoid risking ruining the hub. Anyone on here who has replaced bearings in a Royce hub before able to provide advice?
