OK, here we are.
One way I could see it maybe working, and it will depend on the volume of wanted/for sale that is posted is:
Start a thread, sticky it, then people post.
Now the tricky part people post either wanted or for sale, list what they have or want with rim, finish, size, hole count and then condition, condition being, say, 1 to 10, 1 being good for a wind chime 10 being NOS/ perfect unused, and this can be refined/discussed to suite but you get the idea.
Wanted being the same with the lowest number of condition you would accept.
Now these are only brief to show what you have or want, no photos, just one line of text.
Example: WANTED: joebloggs 2 x Mavic Open Pro, 36 hole, blue finish 5 or higher
joebloggs 2 x Mavic Open Pro, 32 hole, blue finish 5 or higher
joebloggs 2 x Mavic Open Pro, 36 hole, red finish 5 or higher
Tandemboy 2 x Mavic Tandem, 48 hole, expedition version, black finish
For SALE: Mavicmann 2 x Mavic Open Pro, 36 hole, Blue Finish 10 NOS
Tandemboy 2 x Mavic Tandem, 56 hole, expedition version, alloy finish
If this is all that is posted in the thread I will then copy it and paste it into the 1st post, sometime within the within the next 24 hours, then I delete the post. Thus keeping all wanted and for sale in the very first and in theory only post.
From there, people can contact each other and sort out details, condition, photos, buying and selling, price, postage etc.
Not sure whether prices should be added to this at all. This will also rely on both buyer and/or seller posting on the thread so I can then delete the item and/or the wanted ad.
I don't mind doing it and if it takes a day for the item to be posted in the top thread at least people can still see it until it gets moved. It needs to be this simple to be able to manage it and I think if it is all listed on one post then it is easier to see and also manage. I am certainly happy to manage it as long as it is kept simple so I can copy and paste, I don't want to spend half the night editing peoples wanted or for sale posts, it will be easier to delete them
That's one idea I have come up with and to me seems a sensible list style system that stops the pages of random wanted and for sale we see elsewhere
I think there will be like most things here an initial rush and then a steady couple of posts a week.
In the meantime if anyone has any Mavic Module 4, 700c in a 36 hole we can test the system
Talk amongst yourselves and let me know if you like it, can refine it or maybe have a way cooler idea that will get this up and running because it is a good thing, we all have rims we want and hopefully people have got rims they don't and this will help connect them. That's retrobike, bringing people together

Quick where's the sick bag?
