Whilst I welcome the movement on this case I do question why those charged with committing crimes in the UK are not being prosecuted here.
The British citizen, held in custody without charge for 8 years for running a UK based website, from his London address is now being shipped to an ultra high security facility in the US where solitary confinement is a normal practice.
Why is our legal system not able to handle this individual.
I am also more than slightly concerned about the precedence this sets for cases such as that of hacker Gary McKinnon or alleged illegal battery dealer Christopher Tappin.
It isn't unheard of for powers to be abused and freedoms to be overlooked, both the US and the UK can offer historic testimony to that.
Sorry to dampen the flag waving, air punching, whooping celebratory spirit around here. I just think in this victory, we have potentially lost something.
