96 Zaskar LE & 94 Zaskar LE

Re: Gt Zaskar Le

To this...

Typical... Unable to free the steerer looks like it has welded itself to the headset spacer or headset!
Still, after a wash with GT85 and removal of the lower decals its starting to get there, now for a couple of nights polishing. ( don't think that sounds dodgy )

Re: 1996 Gt Zaskar LE

After a couple of hours with the Brasso it's getting there, now for the build, need to find some Jusy SL or Sid forks I think, not too sure about the RC36 in there. Maybe even some nice RC35s.
Frame polished up ok, shame about the little dent in the down tube but new decals will cover this. Glad I managed to get the steerer out and leave the CK in one piece :)
Until, I find or settle on what forks to put in I'm struggling to get on with the build, can't resist but put some bits on that are lying around the garage though.

Re: 1996 Gt Zaskar LE

That's looking better.

Just out of curiosity, what size seat post does your frame take? My '96 takes 27.2mm when I thought they were all supposed to be 27mm.

If I've learnt one thing about Zaskars, it's to have a selection of 26.8, 27.0 and 27.2 posts handy because it's always a lottery as to which post will fit!

I've got a 27.0 waiting to be tried in mine (94 frame), and a 26.8 lined up in case it doesn't fit.

Re: 1996 Gt Zaskar LE

Yeah mines running a 27.0, could probably get away with a 27.2 in all honesty.

Re: 1996 Gt Zaskar LE

When I tried a 27mm in my '96 it just fell straight down the seat tube.

The 27.2mm is a nice snug fit. You have to use a bit of effort to push it in (by hand) which is ideal I think.

My '94 takes a 27mm but it's not as snug a fit. The 27.2 wouldn't go in though- I tried it to be sure.

It's a good thing I'm using U.S.E. seat posts in them both. Shims are easy to get still in both sizes.

Anyhoo. When are we getting some more photos of progress?? :D

Re: 1996 Gt Zaskar LE

Thats odd, all three of my 94's have had 26.8mm posts, so barneyballbags i guess that answers your queery
