94 Kona Explosif

Proto2000

Retro Guru
Heres one I've had for way too long. I bought it as a complete bike but it didn't have all of the parts that were stock or close to that. I stripped it down, prepped it for a rebuild and swapped in a set of all similar color add on's, cable stops seat post clamp. Been waiting for a stem and P2 fork to finally make their way to the build but only landed a stem so far. The frame is the largest available so finding a fork is going to take another year or two at best. I did have Gil make the seat post stickers and the frame tubing one as well, not sure if they are correct but it's what he had and once applied, look darn good. One day I will complete this one and I wanted to document it as the bits roll in, 6 months apart.

Some progress on this build but not 100% era correct. Specifically the fork. I bought this with no intention of putting it on the frame but after a rebuild including new elastomers/seals from Suspension Fork Parts, I had to try it. I do like that it's a close match on the colors on the frame and that I know it is functioning as it should. XTR headset is the starting point for this one, I'm slowly finding all of the pieces to complete the build but will be a while. XTR stuff is crazy expensive right now.
