'92 Orange Clockwork advise

Dirt Disciple
Ok it's taken me a few months of searching but I have finally bought a 92 Orange Clockwork which has a singlespeed conversion.
Originally I was focusing only on Kona's but when the Orange turned up & is
a 16" frame I couldn't resist. Although I will eventually get colortech in Crayford to respray at this stage I am looking for general advise.

Firstly it still has cantilever brakes so I will upgrade to AVID but is there a model I should go for? The forks are the original non F8 type, should I upgrade or is that being too fussy? I posted earlier this week about cranks called mi-ghty (cheapy cheap cheap) as it has these but if I was to change
is there a preference....middleburn maybe?? Anyway at this stage as it's my first steel s/s mtb I'm pleased (although I wont recieve till the w'e) & weighing in at under 10Kg should still scare my seasoned mtb friends

All advise shared knowlege appreciated
James

Mate I just got a 1992 myself (Purple and orange) 17' - look left. For your info I'm looking for middleburn silver cranks/Pace RC35 forks and definitely cantilever brakes M737's. Do a search under clockwork/readers bikes to get your eye in !

Good to see another Clockwork getting some TLC. 8)

If it was me, I'd stick with the canti's and I certainly would keep the original forks.

As for cranks...............Middleburn certainly suit Orange bikes, but so would a nice pair of Cooks or for the more original look some DX/LX or XT (with matching cantis). These were the build options available at the time.

Mind you, there's no reason you couldn't fit all modern kit and even get disk mounts brazed on......it's your ride, you get to say how you want it.

Gonna be cool whatever. 8)
