Hi Chaps

The time has to come to sell my pride & joy 1994 19” Kona Explosif.
I’ve not got the time or cash to finish it off how I intended & it saddens me to look at it in the shed not being ridden!

Breakdown of costs:

Originally olive green this was professionally acid dipped & resprayed 18 months ago & painted in pearl white (which has a silverish flip in the paint when in sunlight) – at a cost of £120 for respray plus £160.00 for frame.
Virtually no marks on this, a minimal amount of chainsuck which won’t be seen with crank fitted otherwise the frame is spotless. The paint is very tough surprisingly. The guy who painted it restores classic leman cars – enough said.
Decals supplied by Gilm - £25.00
Triple butted p2’s – £45.00
Mavic 117 rims with dt spokes & lx m565 hubs – all nos & unridden – total build cost inc parts = £180.00
Nos front & rear m565 cantis - £25.00
Nos m565 sti’s - £30.00
Near nos m565 lx front mech - £10.00
V clean m565 crank (stronglight rings) & un52 bb - £45.00
Use seatpost v long, very clean - £30.00
x-lite titanium bars – seen a bit of action but presentable freebie from a mate
Syncros stem – freebie from Neilll on the forum
Flite that needs recovering will chuck in too – was going to do in white
Got some clear yeti grips I’ll be putting on instead of the modern lock-on’s
Will also be switching tyres for some irc mythos & rear piranha skin walls & very nice condition – cost me £35.00
Xt sharkfin will also be included

Other points of interest original Kona seat clamp, canti hanger & rear canti brake guide included all in tip top condition

I’ll be keeping ti bottle cage & water bottle ( it’s a bit manky anyhow!)

As you can see no expense has been spared in this build. I’ve had the frame circa 2 ½ years – rode mayhem last year on it & was a pure joy

All you need to finish this off is rear mech, 8 speed cassette & chain

I’m asking £550.00 for the lot, no split considered at the moment (it took me a loooong time to bring these parts together)

I’m in Northants for a viewing – free tea / coffee / beer/ water available ;-)

Just to re-iterate I'm not looking to split unless interest is made on the frame, wheels & forks but tbh I really dont have the time for multiple trips to the post office at the moment.

cheers

Martin

Hi

Yep tyres are coming off & being stored back in their boxes. Unlikely to see these for sale in the future (& I love them!) so keeping hold of my stash

cheers

:o :!:
I can't believe you've broken the golden build rule - never ever add up all the costs!

Next you'll be remembering all the little bits & bobs that were 'only a couple of quid', and all the petrol & time off work...

Seriously, nevereverever

Joking aside, it's a beautiful frame & project, very sorry to see it going when it's so close to finished :( At least you've ridden it though 8)

Best of luck with the sale, not that it's needed I'm sure!

Ha ha, I know I know I shouldn't have added it all up but at the same time I wanted the sale to be transparent & not bullsh*t the cost of parts etc.

Thankfully I dont keep a spreadsheet of sales & spends like a certain forum member I know

I've had this built up in near standard guise pre-paint then bling bling red ano / m952 so it's not like I haven't ridden it yet....

I'll take £500 for a quick sale...
