9 speed thumb shifter?

They are not very nice to use as they swing around in more of an arc over old original thumbies as they are re-purposed bar end shifters.

Re:

I've got a Dura ace 9 speed on an SJS mount.
It's in my garage. Can did it out if of interest?

Re:

I have two 9 speed bikes set up with Deore XT SL-M732 thumbies. They work great. With the indexing lever turned to friction all the time they are perfect. Never been a fan of index gears. They also sit ok with the disk brake levers to my eyes but they do stick up a tiny bit. There are usually plenty of sets of these or the DX versions available in the pre-1997 for sale section.

Re:

I use dura ace shifters on Pauls and SJS mounts on a few bikes and find them very effective. Better than any STis I've ever used.

Have you thought about the suntour 8 speed XC pro thumbies? I've used the 7 speed xt with the 'secret??' 8th click (well just pushing it past the last/7th click for the 8th gear) successfully on an 8 speed drive train so wondering if these could be used with a 'secret' 9th click in the same way?? Possibly not but thought I'd put it out there as a suggestion.

Theres no secret 9th click on Suntour thumbies and besides it would be the wrong cable pull!
Theres no secret click on shimano either, it's just pushing the cable further past the last click isn't it? I did wonder that the cable pull would be different. I/m sure I read a thread on here about someone making a 9 speed indexing washer to replace the ones in the XT thumbies.

Yes there is the extra click on shimano thumbies. 6spd have 7 'clicks' and 7 have the 8th 'click'. This isnt available to suntour or other non shimano thumbies.
