Doesn't click on my 7 speed ones currently used with 8 speed xt. All that's going on is the ball bearing being pushed out of the last hole and on to the plate. Doesn't matter anyway as it's not going to get the op a 9 speed thumbie. Unless someone can make up a new 9 speed index plate for a shimano thumb shifter?
