25 quid Giant

evening all, just been and picked this up today 1996 Giant ATX 850. wasn't looking for another ride but couldn't turn it down for £25 (familiar story anyone??)
the lady i bought it from had it from new and said she only used it a few times then put it in the garage for 20 years. its a 6061 t6 alloy frame with rigid cromoly fork and has a mix of stx & stx rc, the wheels are nice stx se smoked chrome hubs on Rigida double wall black rims.
all the parts are like new but with years of dust and grime baked on so the 1st thing to do is a good clean up then decide what im going to do with it.

good evening guys, so i bought this back in the summer just because it was cheap and near, its been in the shed last couple of months but last two weeks i have started work on it. the lacquer was chipped and the frame oxidising underneath so i stripped it back and polished up, the decals im still undecided on and i thought it right to use my garish looking 18 year old wildgrippers .
the spec as follows:

1996 giant atx 850 frame
giant 4130 cromoly fork 1 1/8
rigida laser 400 black rims, stx rc hubs )nos)
stx rc 8spd shifters,front&rear mechs, 5 arm chainset(nos)
un52 bb
stx chromica cantilevers, ritchey blue pads

still plan on getting an original zoom quill stem and some nicer bar ends & grips etc to complete the build.

There’s 3 in my garage.

Cfm3 I’ve owned from new (94) just starting to refresh it.
Atx was just a bit of a parts bin special for dragging the kiddies trailer around.
Down hill was a bit of a whim really fancied a cheap (and retro) bike and so built this up from stuff I had and bargains from here and eBay.
