25 dollar 1993 Manitou FS frame

I just sold a short length A-TAC stem that would have been great on this, knew I should have held out selling that. I figure if I was to make a hanger out of this it would be for a DH bike of that time period. Those boosters would look great..

I have figured out through research the chainguide was made by Adventure Components though still not sure of the year. I think they have been produced in the mid-90s? Do to the chain guide and types of cracks from dents, I believe whoever last rode this frame was using it as a DH bike. Pretty beat up.

That's a cool wall-hanger for 25 bucks....ooorr you could have Frank the Welder swap out the cracked tubes and turn it into a rider (headtube will set you back around 500 bucks but it would be done by one of the best in the business)

Yea, pretty much all three main triangle tubes have dents with cracks. Then there is the headtube. Its dead as dead can be. Not worth it. But pretty.

Re:

The Chainguide is an AC or "Adventure Components" guide. This was one of the first really good chainguides for downhilling. If you were a racer in southern california in the mid to late nineties, you probably had one of these. This is the top only model, they also have with with a roller on the bottom additionally to further lock the chain on.

This might actually be the first chain "guide", at the time all that was available was chain tensioners like the Mr. Crud roller that attached to the middle of the chain stay or the Bullet Bros. Rear axel arm and tension spring attached to the bottom of the deraileur cage.

I had one of these on my 1994 Parkpre pro 825 that I raced junior 12-14 downhill at snow summit and other spots in socal. This guide worked really well and didn't cause a lot of friction.

Yea the AC guide is the top half of a 1995 model. They were designed for elevated swingarm bikes like a foes lts or san andreas and had a post that went through that loop in the clamp down to a lower roller guide. Most likely would have been removed as it would have hit the chainstays. Manitou also had a pretty nice chainstay mounted guide of their own, similar to a dcd which could have been used on this bike.
If you decide to sell the guide shoot me a pm ;)

Re:

There's a skip full of old window frames just up the road if you want some more scrap aluminium to hang on the wall. :P
