Bit of a niche one but I’d thought I’d put a post up to see if anyone can help.
I’m looking for an 80’s mtb/atb in size 21”, it needs to take a 21.1mm quill stem - like a late 80’s Raleigh, or I know the Orbit frontiers did too.
Reynolds 531 preferred or maybe 501? Has anyone got anything knocking about that they’re not currently using.
Thanks people. 👍

I have a mid 80s Shogun, so before they got all cheap and nasty at some point in the 90s. I think it was fitted with 18 speed Deore or maybe even XT as standard so a decent enough frame. No idea on steerer size though. Im on holiday at the moment but can take a look when I'm back next week. I recall it's fairly large but again can check when I'm back if it's of any interest.

21.1mm iwas a bmx standard and only found on cheaper mtb frames

You are very unlikely to find a suitable frame in Reynolds
I think Raleigh Ozarks, Thunder Road are 531 and 21.1mm, my 501 Montage is too. I had a late 80’s Orbit Frontier that was too.. I know it’s an obscure-ish size but I’m sure they’re out there.

I’m talking about the bikes that Raleigh put out with the Tange Unique-X headsets like on my Montage:

Thunder Road in tequila sunrise paint with the same headset:

I know that you’ve been around mtb’s forever and I respect that but please don’t use a wanted ad to troll someone, especially if you haven’t got your facts straight.
If you haven’t got something someone is looking for, or can’t help, be nice and leave alone.

Didn't notice this bit at the bottom of the pictures

It's a public forum! There is no trolling in my posts either

Why you suddenly have a stiff link in your chain about responses to a wanted ad is a little odd when the information provided is to help in the search

21.1mm is an oddball size, it's also the internal diameter of the fork and nothing to do with the frame or even the headset

The frame builder at Orbit was and may still be a member here and could help but given the above, you'd probably resent that too

Now, forget about the above, and be honest here, do you have a set of 21.1mm bullmoose bars sat there glaring at you? Bikes have been built around a set of grips on this site so you are not alone
