More crankset stuff...
So I reshuffled a .75 shim to the drive side and removed the .13mm shim and added a .25mm shim to the non drive side this gave me a tiny bit of preload which the bearings liked, much smoother. Total shim pack is now 1.75mm and the crank is now centered in the frame.
Things that I find irritating. Who makes a front derailleur hanger with a flat front. Anyways the fix is a "leveling washer" that can absorb 3 degrees of misalignment, it's a industrial part built like a bicycle brake shoe adjuster only to very tight tolerances, everything holding the derailleur on is titanium. Now in final alignment.
Exciting news, I have tires and tubes but I'm waiting on presta extenders.
The bars are a work in progress but here is a preview. The extension bars are underslung because the cable routing should end up a bit cleaner and keeps that rats nest concentrated below the base bar.
The plan for this evening was to mount the seat and fit the seatpost but as usual ordering new Ritchey clamp parts was required due to taller carbon seat rails... Such is life.

I'm working 12 hour days so excuse my somewhat loopy posts, so here we go...
The seatpost receiver was cleaned out and some dingleberries of resin were removed, fairly basic stuff. The maximum seatpost depth was 125mm, more than adequate support. The fit of the seatpost is very snug, once clamped with carbon paste this is not going anywhere.
So I did the preliminary calcs for cutting the seatpost and until the clamps for the carbon seat rails show up... I'm dead in the water.
And because cryptic markings on a part is something everyone wants to see, here's the photos (the stuff that looks like paint flaws are reflections from the window). This will all make sense in part two...

Some days are better than others. This was a really good day, parts showed up, the correct Ritchey 1 bolt clamps for carbon rail saddles.
I fitted the saddle and that allowed me to determine the final overall dimension and and I cut the seatpost without fooking it up.

So this is a minor conversation about bike fit...
It's all about horses for courses. Time trial is a very small dark corner of the bicycling universe.
Bicycle fitters I am somewhat leery of because "your saddle is all wrong, so is your stem length, and your bars are to low" I call this "profit bias".
The best "fit" information I could find on the internet was this... Clean, concise, no B.S. and on topic.

So this is where we are at tonight, saddle to elbow pad drop is 110mm (fist height), center of saddle to center of elbow cup is 66cm, center of cup to tip of ski pole is 32 cm.
So it looks like a good fit is attainable with the parts selected. I'm calling that a win.
