2 Yokota Yosemite's in 2 days

I'm always on the hunt for vintage MTB's so a few days back a white 90 Yosemite was posted on CL for a small amount of money. Got ahold of the seller and set up a time to buy it, the bike was all original down to the tires and Turbo saddle, both were in sad shape. I swapped out the tires for some almost perfect original Smokes and the saddle for a decent Terry that needed a bit of leather dye to bring it back. Polished it up and now looks great. The second 93 red, white and blue one was spotted the day I brought the white one home on CL for less than the white one. The guy was very nice and said he needs to sell some of his bikes, mostly Ti and some very high end vintage. Met with him the next day in San Mateo to buy it. This one needed a tear down which I have started. I was surprised that the fork and stem were Dirt Research and the fork still working. May be a bit before I get this one done, lots of cleaning and may need a few bits to get it close to factory. Frame cleaned up well and polished it out, smoooooth now.

The "pro" model seems to be already a 1992 model, it shows up in a brochure which was sold at ebay a bit ago.
I still have some but not very good and read-able pictures from the seller


Also the fork looks style-wise like a bit of an Rockshox 1 copy, it's a "Dirt Research's Aftershock" (something I have never heard of, and it looks like Google neither), with using already air-suspension too, so maybe also in that regards a RS1 copy?

Can you please provide a bit more pictures and details to this early suspension fork? Is it technically similar to an RS1?

Here are some pics of the frame and components as they are now after spending some time on cleaning them up. The fork is with Neko getting documented, he is a suspension fork collector and has never seen one of those in person. He thinks it is elastomer only and will let me know in a day or two. Once back to me, I will add some pics of the fork. It is similar to an RS1 in looks.

I always liked Yokotas.

Sold them for a couple of years at a shop (Edmonton Cycle on Whyte Ave) I work at back in the early 90's.

Have been watching for one of their elevated chainstay bikes for years. Not a brand you see often in Canada though.

Beautiful bikes you got their. Nicely done.

Here are the pics of the fork. We think it's an elastomer and not coil and air as the article states. There are no air fittings on the fork and I do not want to tear it down to see what's in it, it works well now. Both bikes are 1 1/4" steer tube, odd I think for early 90's bikes to have.

The white one is finished now, Pro hopefully tomorrow. Both have DX kits with YST Evolution headsets. Odd that the white one has trigger shifters and the other is friction. Maybe the original owner swapped them out after the triggers failed. White has RM20 rims, other has Sun Chinook. Another oddity is the seatpost clamp on the white one, it is not a split in the seat tube but rather a notch with two crimping chunks of metal, I have never seen that before. Also, not a great design to use on steel posts as they get a bit mangled as this one has. I have a thicker aluminum one coming to replace the original and solve the issue.
