Dusted this C40 frame off from the loft and built it up with some gold bits planned for another frame which I have decided to sell as it doesnt fit my collection (Colnago Concept)
So here is the frame that I bought off the site here years ago (from Nob in Saudi) now with a neo-retro vibe and updated to 11speed which fits the original C40 Gold wheelset. Saddle, seatpost,wheels are original for the frame. The previous owner had kindly plated the Record headset
Stem and bars received some sandpaper action and laquer to de-decal them as they had the cool year 2000 1x1 weave that was the rage back then... am considering same treatment for white print on levers and derailleurs.
Also finding a balance with gold bits is the hard part as its easy to go from JPS cool to Gaudy real quick…. i had some matt black Colnago embossed bar tape as the stuff I tried initally was too much (shiney black with Colnago printed in gold). I am also not a Compact Crank fan, but the Record CT has a gold sheen to it so works in this setting.
I even used black teflon coated shifter cables and just need to replace the silver brake ones also to make them “disappear”
needs some tweaking still that I am noticing in the photos.. but you get the idea I hope..
