I just purchased a XL 1997 Szazbo that was totally repainted. I already have 2 other Szazbo's but they are both mediums. The previous owner powder coated it fire engine red most often seen in the 1995 model. I hope to have it fully assembled this weekend. I had some parts waiting for a different build but as this slipped into my lap I couldn't pass it up. It will be getting Nuke Proof Superfly wheels with Mavic rims. Some NOS XT 735 thumbshifters mounted on a Nuke Proof bar and stem to go with M900 front and rear deraileurs as well as XTR M900 canti brakes with Odyssey straddle rod's. I have a Race Face XY 28.6 post and Salsa liplock and flip-off skewers. The crank is a vintage White Industries. The biggest issue was the 7" (180 mm) steerer tube! I had to find a nearly uncut periodish fork. I found a nice Rock Shock Judy in yellow, thank you eBay. I then had to purchase a super low stack headset, I went with the Crank Brothers Opium with a 21 mm stack height. It just barley fit together! I used Yokozuna reaction housing and cable on the Nuke Proof I built and liked it so I am using it here as well. Some ESI chunky grips and some Eggbeaters and it should be a pretty nice build.
