1995 SLATE Gary Fisher HOO KOO E KOO for sale! MTB History

Xavvyboy

Retro Newbie
The time has come to advertise my much loved '95 Hoo Koo.

It's in excellent condition, with a few minor scratches as you would expect over the 16 years I've had her.

Never really had her mettle tested, she's been a faithful friend, but deserves an owner who will actually take her to the hills...

It's the 15.5" Frame in Slate Grey. I'm 5'10" and this has been fine for me, although I have not tried anything else...

I've replaced the saddle and rims (Mavic 317s now). I've got road tires on her (really chubby MTRs) but still have the original psycho 2s which I will include in the sale.

a recent '96 Hoo Koo (mint in the box) was advertised recently here for £600.

Given that mine is used and has replacement rims and saddle, I will ask for offers in the region of £200+

If there's no sale by the end of February, it will go to eBay at the same price.

I'm based in Forest Hill, South London. Pick up only please.

Look forward to hearing from you...

"...a recent '96 Hoo Koo (mint) was advertised recently here for £600."

'here' as in on RetroBike?

Did it sell?

No wanting to down on a relative newcomer, but 600 is a lot, and I would suggest 450 is also I'm afraid.

It's generally considered poor form to comment on classifieds prices, but in this instance I shall make exception under the guise of helping a new member with their sales...

Well, thanks for the "helpful" post mate.
I might be new to this site, but I've done a fair bit of research. I don't take the sale of this bike lightly.

The '96 version I refer to sold for £500 in the end I believe.

I don't think £450 is a lot to ask. You'd get a lot worse for the same money.

If anyone hasn't been put off by the reply, let me know...make me an offer if you think it's too much.

I'm sorry to stick my nose in, but the '£500' one you mention was brand new!
If you're unsure of its value, then try posting it in the 'whats my x, y, z worth' thread in the old skool chat section.

Good luck with the sale :D

A 1996 bike is brand new? Okay....
I said it was "mint" in my original post didn't I?

Sheeeesh...I thought this would be a friendly place to list a bike...

Again, happy to review offers if you think it's priced too high.

When they mentioned new but an older bike these rarities happen sometimes. A point to note is that box fresh never used always collects a higher premium and yours is clearly second hand

The advice given I think is pretty spot on and fair and as disappointing as it may seem I suspect you will be lucky to get even half if what your asking for.

Because this will be a huge disappointment for you it was right that the "how much is my bike worth" thread was mentioned... I suspect you won't like the answer but the price will be more accurate...interestingly in that thread you mentioned, it points out a second hand one went for just £75

That said you do say you are open to offers and of course eBay is an option too

this new old stock, never ridden and only assembled (not a Hoo but still a US built 6061 frame) sold for £150

this Koo was also NOS, unused and sold for not very much.

OK point taken...maybe the price is optimistic.

I'll see if there are any offers over the week then try my luck on the auctions if there's no joy.
