hey chillibiker,

first i've seen of this thread. glad you saved the bike! if you haven't already found out through paul, i'd say it's made in april or may 1995, as in my own brodie collection and database of queries i've done for others, a frame with the serial number 3788 came back as being made in april '95! practically 'brothers' or 'neighbours'- on the frame production rack, anyhow. btw, i'm in pitt meadows, so another vrc-head nearby! ;o) in my walking days, i did a fair bit of mtn biking, road riding and dirt biking out chill-way... nowadays, the main reasons to go out that way is to get my handi-van fixed at sidewinder conversions and get corn!

if i knew you were open to a swap, i would have been able to offer a 18" Catalyst. but alas, i've just sold it, and this would have been too small for me as well anyway. maybe could have gone to the missus, but she's happy with her current bike. :?

Darn a catalyst would have been nice :D
I had some time today and got down to refurbishing some ayara rx-7 rims for the build
Here is a picture of the resurfaced front rim compared to the back one

In my ocd I even got rid of the small ridges left from braking

I also cleaned and polished the top

I also have the hubs sorted out. The front will be a shimano xt m730 and the rear will be a shimano exage rear hub which to me looks identical to the m730 shimano rear hub. I rebuilt both with new cones and grease

I refinished the rims with 110 grit sand paper and a lot of sanding. I then finished them off with a SOS pad to get a nice even finish.
And to answer your other question the blue contraption is a park tools handle bar holder. It comes in handy when working on a bike in the stand so the bars don't flip flop around every where

very nice work so far. Looking forward to this build.

In fact....Im so motivated I am running out to picking up my my Brodie's Fork and Stem from getting it clear coated right now!

I couldn't help but take some more pics to show how its going . I got the front rim all buffed up and resurfaced went to go lace it up and I grabbed too long of spokes  now I will have to wait till Tuesday when the shop is open again and trade in the spokes. After that I should beable to build up the wheel and be done : ) ...for now

Looking at the pics I think I'm going to ditch the bar ends. I just think they are unnecessary and take away from the look of the bike
