1994 Serotta Colorado ATi - and a Lot of DIY Anodizing

Well...time flies when you're having fun I guess. The wheels and spokes have not been touched. I quickly lost my way last post realizing I would not be finding the tires I wanted. IRC Geo Claw Lite in 26x1.9". I don't know why...but I decided to check eBay and my Saved Searches. For whatever reason when I saved the search for "IRC Geo Claw" and "IRC Geoclaw" the category was saved in Music. These two searches were made over two years ago. So eBay was crawling for IRC Geo Claw in Music and not Cycling. Woops!

At any rate, I went to fix these category errors to make the algos crawl the proper category, but first the item needs to be searched for under the correct category before saving the search. Low and behold, there was a locally listed NOS set of IRC's. Naturally, instead of buying immediately I himmed and hawed internally for some time and lamented whether this bike would be finished. The price for the tires...well, I have missed several opportunites here by being too late and missed opportunities elsewhere by saving wrong searches like a true idiot, so I just went ahead and bought them- the price was reasonable all things considering.

Not sure if the seller is on here, but maybe they are. For the time being I wait for the tires to arrive in the mail and soon will mix some titanium etching solution to bastardize the non-anodized spokes and just might have time next month to build the bike complete and weigh the thing.

At the very least, I can move forward with building the wheel set. Naturally, I will post pictures of the anodization progress along with electrical settings for those who are curious.

Even if you didn’t put your search criteria within music, eBay’s saved searches function doesn’t always work and cannot be relied on sadly. I’ve missed out on quite a few things over the years which can be both a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it!!!

The saved searches can be really hit and miss. I have found that if you have a bunch of things in brackets, separated by commas, some of the things will not be found in the search. Search for them on their own and the search finds them. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to this and it is quite odd and annoying. It also can be more, or less, accurate depending on which category you are doing a multi item search in. Too many items in the brackets can also lead to things not being found. Sadly; if there is something you really want then it is best to search for it on its own and not as part of a multi item search.
